Specific training with the M38 machine pistol or the MG 40 squad machinegun or light mortar would have followed along with drill in small unit tactics. During winter, units attended the large training areas to focus on the mobile warfare for which their unit was designed. The photos in the album resume with pages marked as the “Great Trip” as the battalion deploys to Austria in the Spring of 1938.
