He commanded K2 from mid 1935 thru August 1938, was a highly decorated infantry - cavalry officer with a career spanning both World Wars. In subsequent Wehrmacht assignments, he commanded the 22nd Panzer Division and, as a Major General, commanded all military recruiting in the Vienna district of Austria. He survived the war.
