sher22.jpg - The new OPFOR Surrogate Vehicles (( OSVs)) lines up to replace the M551 based fleet. Two vehicles at right are T80 models, at left, a BMP. All are based on the M113A3 carrier mated with the M2 Bradley turret with non operational cannon. The effect is completed with the usual appliqués to simulated the hull and reactive armor of the vehicles they represent. The advantage to the new OSV is that for both repair parts and operator / mechanic training, everything already exists in the Army framework. Costs of the program are expected to drop with a dramatic rise in vehicle readiness and reliability. --Doug Kibbey
