LTC James R. Spurrier was the commander of the 2/14 ACR as it reconfigured from the Constabulary MTO & E to the armored cavalry equipment set at Ledward Barracks, Schweinfurt and then deployed to Bad Kissingen at the beginning of the Cold War. His war service had been in the Pacific Theater and he was a nationally ranked polo player and avid equestrian. Many troopers from this period recall Spurrier rode his horse every day that the unit was not in the field. Col (Ret) Spurrier is still very interested in the traditions of the US horse cavalry and wishes all former troopers the best for the new year. | |
